Self Limiting Beliefs and Imposter Syndrome: End Self-Doubt and Negative Self-Talk- Joel Bein
Joel Bein is the founder of Human Liberation LLC and the host of The Joel Bein Show. Joel is also the Founder and Conductor of the New Orleans Chamber Players and a Socratic Guide at Acton Academy. You can reach Joel at his website https://thehumanliberation.co
Special offer: Joel is offering a resource to find and clear limiting beliefs called "The Self Doubt Playbook." Just message "playbook" to his LinkedIn account.
Some of the highlights Joel shares:
- There is an easier way to live than to just push through with willpower - it's like driving with the parking brake engaged. It can work, but it's so much easier when you release the parking brake (limiting beliefs).
- How to find the root cause and rewrite the stories that lead to self doubt and negative self-talk
- Growing up in a family that "looks good on paper" but with hidden trauma and dysfunction underneath
- Not feeling safe
- The power of asking "why?"
- When we start asking questions we can start finding solutions
- Metaphor - the Santa Clause effect. We once believed in Santa and thought we had sufficient evidence that he was real, but then we began to question that belief and realized there was another explanation. Then it was easy to stop that belief. Likewise, we create stories about ourselves and the world that we believe. When we begin to question those stories we realize there is another explanation and we can release old stories that don't serve us.
- We are meaning making machines
- We create stories in order to try to make sense out of reality and our environment
- An example of someone overcoming their anxiety about money
- Ask yourself, "What are the symptoms? Where do I feel this in my body? What is that part of my body trying to tell me?"
- We need to pull out the weeds in our mental garden so we can plant new beliefs
- Why just repeating positive affirmations isn't enough
- Let's declutter our minds
- Core self worth issues: I'm not good enough
- How improving our mental and emotional health improves our physical health
